Disengaged NPower beneficiaries said that they would be protesting for one week nationwide to reveal. Thus among other grievances, their demands that the Nigerian government does not pay its five-month N14,000 grants.
In addition to protests against the office of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management Minister Sadiya Umar Farouk, SaharaReporting has learned that the grieved beneficiaries will also withhold the loans promised to 500,000 applicants.
According to the ministers, Farouk, who is also “callous in dealing with the case,” will start a peaceable protest next week Monday across the country.
It was included in a statement issued by SaharaReporters on Tuesday by the National President of the 500,000 volunteers of the Disengaged Exited Power, Comrade Bashir, Gobir.
Remember that, after President MuhammaduBuhari had sacked Saleh Mamman and Sabo Nanono, the Power Ministers and the Agrarministers on September 1, respectively, the sacked volunteers shouted in August and demanded the sack of Farouk.
In its declaration, Gobir stated that ‘It is a reality that the 2016 and 2017 batches A and B have been decommissioned since Sadiya Farouk’s appointment and that over 14,000 exited recipients have been denied a five-month grant.
“With Sadiya Farouk being appointed to manage the NPower there is no development of policies on youth empowerment in Nigeria. The package continues to deceive us.
“We want a matter of urgency for Sadiya Farouk to be asked, and that is why we are mobilizing across the nation for protest because she and other ministerial officers rejected our demands.
Patrick Mayor, one of the victims of the protest, said, “The slogan of all the disengaged NPower beneficiaries should be Sadiya. He lent his voice. We are prepared to protest and in our hands lies our future. We diligently and actively served our Fatherland twice. Why should we play with our future?”
